Pottery Courses

Menear Ceramics at the Pottery Barn, Amberley Museum is offering a number of short 2-5 hr courses as an introduction to a variety of ceramic techniques. The courses are suitable for beginners to intermediates and will take place as detailed in the course notes. The pottery is well equipped with electric pottery wheels and everything needed for hand-building.

The Pottery also has the advantage of being situated in a beautiful setting in the heart of the South Downs National Park.

Above all, the courses are designed for students to explore various aspects of clay making within a beautiful environment and to have fun!

Please note : The museum is open during the courses and the public have access to the pottery. People love clay and will often want to engage with students.

Price : Includes full tuition, use of clay, equipment, glazes. Pieces made on the course will be fired in our kilns for collection later.

Pottery Parties

Why not have a party with a difference and learn the basics of throwing pottery on the wheel and hand-building. Our parties are designed for all ages and abilities and the cost covers tuition, use of the pottery equipment, firing and glazing of your work which can be collected at a later date.

The parties last for 2hrs. 

Cost £30 each Minimum 4 people (£120)

We also run taster courses for larger parties (maximum 15) ideal for Corporate Events or Hen Parties
